HISTORY
Almost century before the art of roping and riding reached the American West, Mexican vaqueros recruited by Hawaiian royalty imported cowboy culture to the Pacific. Adapting to Hawai‘i’s lava landscape became Paniolo —the Hawaiian term for cowboys.
